Parties involved in F-9 Park incident reached settlement: Islamabad police

Islamabad police confirmed that the incident in the F-9 Park, where a mother and her daughters were assaulted and dragged by a man, occurred in February and was settled between the parties involved.

Police stated that the dispute stemmed from a previous video posted by the women on social media, which inadvertently captured the suspect's family.

The incident came to public attention when a video went viral on social media on Sunday, showing a man and his companions violently pulling two women by their hair. A female driver was seen engaging in a heated argument with an individual.

According to the police, the incident occurred on February 23, and the suspect was arrested the same day. 

The case of the incident was registered at Margalla Police Station on victim's complaint.

Following his arrest, police presented him in court, where a three-day physical remand was granted. However, he was subsequently granted bail.

"We didn't wait for the video to go viral to take action on the incident," Independent Urdu quoted SP City Khalid Awan as saying. “We obtained the details of the accused from his car and arrested him," he added.

SHO of Margalla Police Station, Saleem Raza explained that a settlement between both parties resulted in the suspect’s release on bail.

He further elaborated on the cause of the dispute, revealing that the conflict began when the victim had posted a video on social media.

"There was a coincidental glimpse of the accused's family in a video of these women, which they had recorded in a public place. When the accused contacted them and asked them to delete the video, the women deleted the video from social media."

However, tensions reignited when the suspect encountered the women again in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in F-9.

"The women were filming themselves at the time, and the accused suspected they were recording his family again," Raza stated.

He added, "From there, the heated conversation resumed, after which the accused became violent and assaulted the women." Saleem Raza further stated that the accused resides in Islamabad and is involved in the property business.
