Man arrested for dragging women by hair in Islamabad

Islamabad police apprehended a man involved in the vicious assault on a woman, Hajra, and her daughters near a famous fast food outlet in F-9 Park two weeks ago.
The arrest came after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the suspect indentified as Jamal and his accomplices.
A disturbing video surfaced on social media on Sunday, showing a man and his companions violently pulling two women by their hair. The footage went viral and sparked outrage online.
In a video, a female driver was seen engaging in a heated argument with an individual.
The argument escalated and a woman's voice can be heard stating to the individual, "Ye tum kis tarah sey baat kar rahe ho?" translating as "How are you talking to me like this?"

The incident occurred on February 23, 2025, at approximately 8:00 pm. Subsequently, the FIR was registered at the Margalla police station later that day.
The FIR narrated the filmed incident, stating that a man dragged women on the street by their hair while the victims were urging commuters for their help.
Meanwhile, numerous passers-by were seen standing at the spot without interveining to protect the victims.
Hajra explained in the FIR that she and her daughters were in a car near a famous food chain, when a white Mercedes blocked their way. The miscreants attempted to snatch the car from Hajra's daughter who was sitting at the driver's seat.
According to the FIR, the suspect, Jamal, and his accomplices 'attacked' the women's car, 'dragged' Hajra and her daughters out, and subjected them to 'severe violence.'
“He showed us a pistol and snatched our bags, which contained two million rupees in cash and 10 tolas of gold. He threatened to kill us before fleeing in the car,” the FIR added.

The complainant also claimed that her younger daughter was “physically assaulted” as the culprits tore her clothes.
According to the police, sections 392 (Punishment for robbery), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 506-II (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and 34 (Mischief by destroying or moving, etc., a landmark fixed by public authority) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for criminal proceedings were included in the FIR.
However, the miscreant involved in the incident were handed over to the police on a three-day physical remand.
The police said that they recovered the stolen items from the suspects and a charge sheet was submitted to the court.
