An emerging deep depression in the Arabian Sea is expected to convert into a tropical cyclone and may hit the coastal range of Pakistan, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The authority issued an alert on Tuesday, stating, “The low-pressure system is currently positioned near Lakshadweep on the Indian coast, and it will turn towards Pakistan in the third week of October.”

Depression's movement towards Pakistan “depends on its trajectory and intensity,” according to the NDMA.

“There is a chance that this low-pressure system may evolve into a full-fledged tropical cyclone, with the potential to affect the coastal areas of Pakistan.”

On the other hand, the Pakistan Meteorologist Department has denied the formation of a cyclone in the Arabian Sea and believes that the aquatic activities are expected to begin on October 9.

“It’s too early, even if no low has formed yet, probably on October 9 it may begin, but not sure how much strength it would get,” said Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz while answering the query regarding NDMa’s forecast.

“However, due to the formation of high pressure in the lower atmosphere, Karachi is likely to witness hot and dry weather for four to five days,” said Met Office.

Additionally, the temperature is expected to range from 38-40°C with the surface wind to prevail from Northwest during most of the time.
