The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that SIM cards registered under the identity cards of deceased individuals will be blocked starting October 15.

In its official statement, the PTA urged consumers to swiftly transfer the SIM cards of dead family members to their own identities.

After the deadline, users will be unable to reactivate their SIM cards since the SIM cards issued to the deceased individual’s  ID Cards will be deactivated permanently.

The PTA has urged consumers to visit their local franchise for the transfer procedure if they want to activate their SIM card for future usage.

Users are advised to present the deceased’s original death certificate, as well as an official document verifying their relation for the transfer procedure.

The franchise staff will review the given documentation and aid with changing the SIM to the relative’s name, all while complying with the PTA’s newest requirements.

The efforts aim to protect customers and boost trust in communication networks.
