In another blow to the former ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed MPA-elect Aijaz Khan Swati, who won provincial assembly seat from Karachi’s PS-88, announced his affiliation with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

The announcement was made by Swati in a video message on the microblogging site X.

In a video statement, Swati said he has joined PPP for the sake of prosperity and development of his constituency and voters.

Announcing the unconditional support to PPP, he said that this decision was aimed at serving the people of his constituency.

It is pertinent to mention that Swati had contested in the February 8 poll from PS-88 Malir as an independent candidate with PTI’s support and clinched the provincial assembly's seat by securing 17,580 votes.

Following his inclusion, PPP's tally in the Sindh Assembly reached 86 seats.

The president PTI Karachi chapter, Khurram Sher Zaman, decided to suspend Swati's membership.

Earlier, PTI-affiliated Mumtaz Ali Jakhrani, who contested from PS-3 Jacobabad, had joined hands with PPP.
