KARACHI, August 24, 2026: Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has claimed that it is impossible to divide Sindh when President Asif Ali Zardari holds office.

Addressing the press conference in Karachi, Nasir Hussain Shah said that Sindh government was formulating legislation to empower the local government institutions.

How can the government in Islamabad, which does not have a local government system, carve out new provinces? He asked the question.

Nasir Shah said that nothing was more important for the PPP than Sindh and the party could give up anything in order to unite and preserve Sindh.

PPP’s chairman, co-chairman, and Sindh’s chief minister are all Sindhis and the PPP always puts Sindh first, he said.

Days ago, Sindh’s Information Minister Sharjeel Memon had said that it was the MQM that was causing trouble for Karachi. Sharjeel Memon further said that Mustafa Kamal used to reply to provocations of MQM founder Altaf Hussain with ‘ji bhai ji bhai’.

Sharjeel Memon said that the policy of the PPP regarding the provinces was very clear and conducting surveys in the streets would never be regarded as public opinion.

On the other hand, Sadia Javed, spokesperson of Sindh government, had sharply responded to the demands of Mustafa Kamal for devolution. Mustafa Kamal is sitting in a ministry which is basically a provincial affair and those demanding devolution should first see their own ministry, she had said.
