Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has claimed that PTI founder Imran Khan is being denied basic human rights and was secretly shifted from Adiala Jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where he underwent eye surgery.
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Salman Akram Raja said that government circles had misled the public about Imran Khan’s health for five days. He added that once the government finally acknowledged the situation, PTI leaders visited Adiala Jail.
He stated that Imran Khan’s personal physician, Dr Asim, and eye specialist Dr Khurram visited the jail a day earlier.
According to the PTI secretary general, Imran Khan underwent eye surgery at PIMS, but his family was not informed about the reason for shifting him to the hospital.
Salman Akram Raja further said that around 200 parliamentarians were present outside the Supreme Court.
He added that he and Latif Khosa had attempted to meet Chief Justice Yahya Afridi earlier, but the chief justice was not present in his chamber and the meeting could not take place.
He said that on the directions of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, they met the registrar of the Supreme Court, who is himself a sessions judge, and apprised him of the entire situation.
He added that the attorney general had also been briefed, while 16 petitions had already been filed before the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, but no action had been taken so far.
