Senior journalist Ansar Abbasi has claimed that the top leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is under intense pressure from the party's social media and overseas groups, who have been running a malicious campaign against the army and the Army Chief in the United States.

Abbasi in his report quoting sources stated that the PTI leadership has reservations over the campaign against the COAS.

The campaign, which includes protests and advertisements on roadside screens in the US, has been widely criticized for its anti-army and anti-state narrative, Abbasi said and added the PTI leadership has reportedly tried to distance itself from the campaign, but its overseas supporters continue to run it, defying the party's attempts to rein them in.

A senior PTI leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Ansar Abbasi that the party's social media and overseas supporters have become a major headache for the leadership.

"We are caught between a rock and a hard place," the leader said. "If we try to rein in our supporters, they will turn against us. But if we don't, the party will continue to suffer due to their actions."

However, sources within the party suggest that the PTI leadership is struggling to control its social media and overseas supporters, who have become increasingly vocal in their criticism of the army and the government.
