Former PM and PTI founder Imran Khan was taken from Adiala Jail to PIMS Islamabad for a scheduled follow-up eye treatment, official sources confirmed.
The treatment was carried out under the supervision of consultant ophthalmologists and a vitreoretinal surgeon from both PIMS and Shifa International Hospital, hospital officials said. His next follow-up visit for the final injection is expected on March 23.
However, the administration of injection, without informing the family prior the procedure, has revived tensions between the PTI and the government, with the party accusing authorities of “secretive actions” and a lack of transparency.
PTI leaders and family members say they were not informed in advance of the late-night transfer of Khan to the hospital and argue that Khan should instead be treated at Shifa International Hospital under the supervision of his personal doctors and family.
In posts on X, PTI officials questioned why the family was not notified before the procedure and repeated calls for unrestricted access for Khan’s personal medical team. They also shared video clips of the convoy but said they could not independently verify the footage.
The government maintains that the treatment was conducted in accordance with medical protocols and that all necessary legal and humanitarian procedures were followed.
