The Sindh Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Archives Department has announced that public entry to all museums and heritage sites will be free from August 1 to 14 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

The museums and archaeological sites where public entry will be free include the Quaid-i-Azam House Museum in Karachi, Mohenjo Daro, the Sindh Provincial Museum in Hyderabad, the Folk and Craft Museum in Sehwan Sharif, Banbhore Museum near Thatta, Kot Diji Museum in Khairpur, and the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Museum in Larkana.

Mukhi House, Umarkot Fort Museum, Naukot Fort Museum, Laar Museum Badin, Marvi Cultural Centre in Bhalwa, and Bhit Shah Cultural Centre will also be open to the public free of charge.

There will also be no entry fees at major archaeological and heritage sites, including the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta, Bhanbhore, Kot Diji Fort, Satiyyan Jo Astaan, Umarkot Fort, and Naukot Fort.

The department announced a 50 per cent discount on all departmental publications, including books available at official stores. Tourist sites managed by the department will also offer free entry throughout the two-week period.

Free public access will extend to the Archives Gallery in Karachi, which houses rare documents, manuscripts, and photographs.

Art galleries such as Sambara Art Gallery in Karachi, Zafar Kazmi Art Gallery in Hyderabad, and Mehran Arts Council Gallery in Hyderabad are also included in the initiative.

The announcement came after a meeting chaired by Sindh Minister for Culture, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, on the directive of the Chief Minister.
