Public holiday announced in Sindh on May 1

The Sindh government on Friday announced May 1 as a public holiday on account of Labour Day.

According to a notification issued by Sindh chief secretary Asif Hyder Shah, the holiday has been announced for all government offices,  autonomous, and semi-autonomous bodies on May 1.

"The Government of Sindh hereby declares 01st May, 2024 (Wednesday) as Public Holiday throughout the province of Sindh on the occasion of "Labour Day" for all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and Local councils under the administrative control of Government of Sindh, except essential services," the notification read.

The Labour Day is observed around the world to express solidarity with and honour the rights of the labour class.
