Prisoners in Punjab's jails are seeking the same facilities that are being provided to incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
The Inspector General of Prisons wrote a letter to Punjab's Advocate General, stating that prisoners have requested the jail administrator to provide the same privileges as Imran Khan has been enjoying, including six meetings with lawyers per day.
The prisoners expressed disappointment that Imran Khan was being treated with privileges, arguing that they should be provided with the same facilities. Meanwhile, denying their demand would be equivalent to violating the Prison Rules of 1978.
Earlier, the Punjab Advocate General told the Lahore High Court (LHC) that the Punjab government has allocated seven cells for convicted PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, with 14 security personnel appointed for his security.
However, some media reports claimed that a special kitchen has been set up for the former premier Imran Khan.
Moreover, the IG Jail revealed that extra CCTV cameras have been installed in his cell for Rs 500,000, while the monthly expense for Khan's security in jail stands at PKR 1.2 million.
