Police in Rawalpindi have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy at a madrassa in the Gujar Khan area.

According to police report, the suspect, identified as Ibrahim Yaseen, was taken into custody after an FIR was registered a day before.

According to the complaint filed by the child’s father, the boy had gone to the village mosque to offer prayers and to give azaan. After completing his duty, he was sitting in a designated area of the two-storey madrassa building when the accused allegedly grabbed him.

According to FIR, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the minor and recorded a video of the act. It further states that Yaseen, along with three unidentified accomplices, later used the recording to blackmail the child, threatening to make it public if he disclosed the incident.

Initially too scared to speak, the boy remained silent, according to the complaint. However, after the video circulated online, he informed his family about the incident.

The complainant told police that the assault and the circulation of the video had caused serious harm to the child and the family’s dignity, urging them to demand legal action against the suspect.

Following the FIR, Gujar Khan Police conducted a medical examination of the boy and arrested the main suspect. Authorities said the accused will be presented before a court once the challan is completed with available evidence.

“Assault, violence, and harassment are absolutely intolerable,” said Superintendent of Police Sadr Inam Sher. Further investigation into the case is underway.
