Reports of fatalities during clashes between law enforcement and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) protesters were dismissed by the security forces as 'propaganda', according to the sources.

The security forces stated that “fake propaganda is being promoted by a few people”, and they were wrongly accusing security personnel of killing demonstrators.

“This is being circulated on social media to conceal their failure and shortcomings, as police have not used firearms against protesters,” sources quoted forces.

It should be noted that following the combing operation of police and rangers in Islamabad’s Blue Area, D-Chowk and Jinnah Avenue, PTI’s leadership called off the protest late at night.

Security forces successfully dispersed the protesters while leadership announced ending the protest.

Subsequently, Bushra Bibi, Omar Ayub, and Ali Amin Gandapur reached Mansehra, where they were expected to hold a press conference.

Earlier in the day, Rangers cleared D-Chowk, pushing PTI protesters back from Jinnah Avenue to Khyber Plaza. The situation in Islamabad remains tense as both sides assess the aftermath of the protest and the ensuing crackdown.

However, skirmishes persisted as PTI workers removed containers, pelted stones, and targeted law enforcement with batons. Many protesters wore gas masks and were armed with sticks.

The clashes resulted in significant casualties. According to police sources, four Rangers and police personnel were killed, and over 100 were injured in the violence.

A spokesperson for Rawalpindi Police confirmed the arrest of over 400 individuals in a grand operation near Chungi No 26. Across Punjab, nearly 800 arrests were made. Weapons, wireless devices, rifles, and ball bearings were recovered during the crackdown.
