Shawwal moon has been sighted in Pakistan, Eidul Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow (Wednesday) with religious fervor.
The announcement was made by Chairman RUET body Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad after analyzing the testimonies of the moon from across Pakistan.
The central moon-sighting body met at the roof of the Federal Secretariat’s Kohsar Block in Islamabad, while meetings of zonal and district Ruet-i-Hilal committees were also held at their respective headquarters concurrently.
The meeting was chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and attended by the members of the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, as well as officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Suparco, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
It is pertinent to mention here that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia, Australia, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in those countries.
Hence, the holy month will last there for a full 30 days, with Tuesday being the last day of Ramadan — the holiest month in the Muslim calendar.
