DHA apartment brawl: Karachi court issues notice to SSP South, Darakshan SHO

A Karachi sessions court has issued notices to the SSP South and SHO Darakshan on a plea seeking registration of a case over the DHA apartment brawl.

The court sought responses from the respondents by September 2.

The petitioner alleged that police have refused to register a case on her complaint. She claimed that she and her family members were assaulted and that a case was instead registered against them.

The petition stated that despite approaching police for registration of a case, the police had not taken action against the alleged influential people. It said that they were facing serious security concerns following the alleged assault and registration of the case against them.

The petitioner’s lawyer asked the court to direct police to register a case against those allegedly involved in the assault and provide protection to the petitioners.

A video showing a scuffle between residents of two apartments in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6 went viral on social media last week. Three policemen are also facing disciplinary action over their alleged involvement in the incident.
