Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has decided to quit the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee, media reports said on Tuesday, citing sources.

According to the reports, Misbah has decided to leave the selection committee, although the reasons for his decision and details about the formal submission of his resignation have not yet emerged.

They said that Misbah has informed the PCB about his decision and will leave the board after completing it. The development comes amid turmoil surrounding the Pakistan Test team following consecutive defeats on the ongoing tour of England.

The PCB has released seven players from the Test squad during the England tour, including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Aamer Jamal, Ali Usman, Owais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.

The board has also released head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul.

Meanwhile, opening batter Imam-ul-Haq has returned to Pakistan after missing the second Test due to an injury. His injury has come under scrutiny, and he may also face an inquiry by the PCB.
