KARACHI: The Sindh Employees Alliance has announced a large-scale protest movement beginning later this month to press for a substantial increase in salaries, allowances, and pensions of government employees across the province.

According to a statement issued by the alliance, all government departments in Sindh will observe a complete strike from September 23 as a mark of protest against what they term the “government’s apathy” toward employees’ financial difficulties.

The alliance further announced that its members, along with sympathetic workers, will stage a massive sit-in outside Bilawal House in Karachi on October 6 if their demands remain unmet.

Leaders of the Sindh Employees Alliance said that the rising cost of living, inflation, and stagnant wages have severely affected the livelihoods of thousands of public-sector workers.

They noted that employees across education, health, municipal, and administrative departments are united under the alliance’s banner and are prepared to escalate their protests if necessary.

The key demands include:

A 70 percent increase in basic salaries to offset inflation and rising household expenses.

Revision and enhancement of various allowances provided to public servants.

Improvement in the pension structure to ensure financial security for retired employees.

Alliance representatives warned that unless the provincial government takes immediate and concrete steps to address these issues, the protests could intensify and disrupt government services across Sindh.

The Sindh Employees Alliance urged the provincial leadership and the Chief Minister to open negotiations before September 23 to avert a province-wide shutdown of government offices and institutions.

They added that the October 6 sit-in at Bilawal House would be “peaceful but decisive” in pushing for their demands.
