The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on November 1 for the Hindu community to celebrate Diwali, a festival that signifies the triumph of good over evil.
Every year, the Sindh government grants a public holiday to Hindu employees and laborers on this occasion, along with the issuance of advance salaries to Hindu staff members.
The services, general administration, and coordination department has issued the notification confirming the Diwali holiday, which will apply to both government and private institutions on Friday.
Additional IG Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, has assured that all necessary security measures will be in place during the observance of Diwali rituals by the Hindu community.
A five-member delegation, led by Hindu Community City Councilor Deepak Shankar, met with officials at the Karachi Police Office and commended their efforts to ensure the safety of citizens during the celebrations.
Diwali is a five-day Hindu festival honoring Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, celebrated with fireworks and the decoration of homes with lights.
The date of Diwali is determined by the lunar calendar in the Hindu tradition.
