The Sindh government has decided to introduce an electronic marking (e-marking) system and digitise examination processes across all educational boards in the province, replacing the conventional examination and paper-checking system.

The decision was discussed at a meeting chaired by Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahoo at the office of the Secretary for Universities and Boards. Representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) also attended the meeting.

Participants reviewed measures aimed at enhancing the capacity of educational boards and modernising the examination system. Under the proposed reforms, answer scripts will be assessed through a computerised e-marking system instead of the traditional manual process to improve transparency and efficiency.

The government also plans to equip all educational boards with modern IT infrastructure and computers. Existing staff will receive specialised training from IT experts to help them adapt to the new digital system.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Rahoo said the proposals for the reform initiative would soon be submitted to the Sindh Cabinet for approval. He said implementation of the digitisation project would begin promptly after the cabinet's approval, adding that the reforms are expected to reduce delays in the announcement of examination results and minimise human errors in the assessment process.
