The family of a National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) official who has been missing since Monday evening approached police on Tuesday, seeking his recovery.
According to an application submitted to Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho, Fayyaz Ahmed Janjhi, an assistant director at Nadra, went missing at around 6:30pm on July 20 after leaving his office in Karachi's Ayesha Manzil area.
The application stated that family members repeatedly attempted to contact Janjhi, but his mobile phone remained switched off. His colleagues told the family that he had left the office at around 6pm, but he never reached home.
The family requested police to register a complaint regarding his disappearance and take immediate steps to locate him, adding that neither Janjhi nor his family had any known enmity with anyone.
Janjhi's elder brother, Riaz Sohail, said the family had approached the Sindh police chief, who assigned the case to Central Senior Superintendent of Police Imran Khan.
Separately, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) expressed concern over Janjhi's disappearance and urged the Sindh government to expedite efforts to ensure his safe recovery.
