Three Pakistan Rangers personnel were martyred and four others injured after militants launched a coordinated attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
According to the military's media wing, the attackers detonated an explosive device at the camp's main gate before attempting to breach the perimeter. Rangers personnel responded immediately, foiling the assault.
The ISPR said three attackers were killed during the exchange of fire, while another suspect, identified as an Afghan national, was captured in an injured condition. It identified the assailants as members of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, which it described as an India-backed group.
Following the attack, security forces launched sanitisation operations in the surrounding area to ensure no additional militants remained.
The military said Pakistan's security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counter-terrorism operations under the "Azm-e-Istehkam" campaign, adding that those responsible for the attack would be pursued.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed condolences to the families of the martyred Rangers personnel, stating that their sacrifices reinforced the nation's commitment to safeguarding the country's security.
