The Karachi Traffic Police have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for a Muharram procession scheduled to take place in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Sunday night, urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and use alternate routes.

According to a press release issued by the Office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic East), the procession marking the third day of mourning for Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala will begin after a majlis at Imambargah Sahib-ul-Zaman in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 14.

The procession will pass through Block 19 before concluding at Imambargah Akhir Zaman in the Rashid Minhas Road Traffic Section at around 6am on Monday.

To facilitate the procession, both carriageways of Professor Ghafoor Ahmed Road, from Johar Morr to Munawar Chowrangi, will remain closed to traffic throughout the event.

Traffic arriving from Millennium Mall and Drigh Road towards Gulistan-e-Jauhar will be diverted towards Nipa and Gulshan-i-Iqbal. Motorists will then be able to use the Aladdin U-turn and access the area via Lal Flats.

Similarly, traffic coming from Nipa and Aladdin towards Gulistan-e-Jauhar will be diverted back towards Nipa from Johar Morr.

The traffic police have requested commuters to avoid unnecessary travel in the area to minimise inconvenience. Traffic personnel will remain deployed at key intersections to guide motorists and maintain traffic flow on surrounding roads.

Citizens have also been advised to stay updated through the Traffic Police Helpline 1915 and Radio FM 88.6 for the latest traffic information.
