Two Pakistan-origin British men were honoured in the UK for their contribution to Islamic financing and British public life.
Asim Khan, a founder of an Islamic finance group, was awarded the Global Islamic Finance Leadership Award 2024. Ahmed Junaid was awarded for his services in the cyber industry.
Khan is a prominent personality in Islamic finance, and he worked with the Asian Subcontinent, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Europe, including real estate, infrastructure, and the healthcare sector.
"Thanks to the jury and judges for this incredible honour. This award is not just a recognition of the work we have done but also a testament to the growth and importance of Islamic finance," Mr Asim said in his victory speech.
"I dedicate this award to the entire team at Khalij Group and the broader Islamic finance community," he added.
Asim further said that he received this award with deep humility and a renowned commitment to pushing boundaries for Islamic financing.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Junaid was awarded for showing exceptional skills in cyber security for people. In his early 30s, Junaid became one of those Pakistani professionals who achieved global recognition.
“I can’t believe a backbencher, most bullied at school and almost written off, could actually hold this global award in his hand,” Junaid said after receiving an award.
Junaid dedicated his award to Arshad Nadeem for brightening Pakistan’s name across the world.
Junaid said he also dedicated this award to his spouse, parents, and team members who supported him in achieving such recognition.
