In a crackdown on fraudulent activities, the police in Kingdom have arrested four foreigners, including two Pakistani nationals, for operating a fake Hajj company in Makkah, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

The accused were found to be issuing counterfeit documents, including Nusuk Cards cards, Hajj permits, and visas, to unsuspecting pilgrims.

According to the Saudi police, the suspects were also in possession of forged seals from government institutions and computers.

The authorities have handed over the suspects to the public prosecution, which is expected to charge them with fraud and other related offenses.

The arrests come as Saudi Arabia tightens its regulations for the holy pilgrimage.

The country's Ministry of Interior also announced heavy fines for those who opt to perform the holy sojourn without a permit under Hajj Regulations 2024.

Saudi citizens, foreigners residing in the Kingdom, and visitors who violate Hajj regulations will face a fine of SAR10,000.

Individuals caught transporting Hajj violators without a permit may face imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of up to 50,000 riyals, and confiscation of their vehicle.
