Two Pakistani-American doctors were among the medical professionals who volunteered to provide aid to injured Palestinians in Gaza.

Among these dedicated individuals are two physicians hailing from Texas, Dr Hina Cheema, a Gynecologist, and Dr Khawaja Ikram, an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Dr Cheema, who had previously visited Gaza two years ago, shared poignant insights into the dire medical situation she encountered during her recent service.

She highlighted the misery faced by Palestinians, with severe shortage of basic medications and the challenges in procuring essential medical supplies.

Dr Cheema, a mother of two, temporarily left her practice in Dallas to spend two weeks in Gaza.

Reflecting on her experience in an Instagram post few days ago, she expressed the profound anguish and suffering prevailing in the eclanve.

“Words fail me. There is so much pain and suffering that it is unimaginable. It’s palpable. It’s in the air. I have never heard stories like I have in just 48 hours of being in Gaza," her post read.

Meanwhile, Dr Khawaja Ikram, who was also among the Texan medical contingent, underscored the unwavering commitment of healthcare professionals, regardless of the circumstances.

Dr Ikram recounted a touching gesture from a patient — a gift in the form of an oyster shell inscribed with a message in Arabic, which transaltes, there is pain, but it is a gift of love from Gaza.

According to him, doctors pledge to uphold the principles of medical ethics and serve everyone in need, yet wounded Palestinians in Gaza are being systematically deprived of medical care.
