Two women caught with over 3kg gold, 11,000 US dollars at Karachi airport

Customs officials foiled an attempt to smuggle gold and foreign currency abroad at Karachi airport, seizing more than 3 kilograms of precious metal and over 11,000 US dollars from two women.
According to a media report, the seziure was made after detailed profiling and strict baggage checks. Both the women were intercepted after their luggage raised suspicion.

A search of the baggage of one of the women led to the recovery of two kilograms of gold and 6,143 US dollars, while over one kilogram of gold and 5,476 US dollars were found in the other woman's luggage.
Authorities estimated the total value of the seized gold and currency at around Rs110 million.
Following the seizure, a case has been registered against both women, and further investigation is underway.
