UN honours Pakistan's female army officers with 'Gender Advocacy Award'

In a momentous achievement, two Pakistani female peacekeepers, Major Sania Safdar and Major Komal Masood, have been recognised for their exceptional professionalism and dedication to promoting the United Nations' ideals.
They were awarded the Gender Advocacy Award by the Under Secretary General of the Department of Peace Operations at UN Headquarters in New York.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major Safdar served in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus, while Major Masood served in the Central African Republic.
"While serving in international environment, both officers demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication and made significant contribution to Mission's Peace and Stability efforts especially with regards to advancing women's meaningful participation in Peacekeeping Operations within the mission," the military's media wing said in a statement.
The recognition received by Major Safdar and Major Masood is a "testament to Pakistan's unwavering commitment to the UN Peacekeeping mandate."
Pakistan has been at the forefront of promoting women's participation in peacekeeping efforts.
The country's Female Engagement Team (FET) has received international recognition for its work in promoting women's empowerment and providing psychological support to local communities.
"Pakistan remains committed to play a pivotal role as a responsible member of the international community to help realize the ideals of global peace and security through active support in UN Peacekeeping Missions."
