Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

The top armyman commended Naqvi for her professional conduct during the recent incident of mob violence in Lahore.

COAS Asim Munir lauded ASP Shehrbano's role in the volatile situation at the Ichhra Bazaar, where a woman was falsely accused by the mob of blasphemy for wearing a dress with Arabic calligraphy print. The mobsters misunderstood the print as some sacred text.

The policewoman negotiated with the mob and took the woman under protective custody, preventing any violence or further escalation.

Emphasising the important role of Pakistani women in all aspects of life, Gen Asim stated that women are invaluable assets to society, and their respect is enshrined in our religious and social values.

He highlighted the importance of fostering social harmony and building a nationwide consensus to reduce intolerance.

General Asim Munir also emphasised that resorting to "vigilante justice is unacceptable" when legal avenues exist for addressing concerns and grievances.

He further stated that arbitrary actions based on misinformation weaken society's outlook.
