Today marks a crucial day for Pakistan's democracy as over 128 million voters cast their ballots to elect representatives from among 28,626 candidates across 150 parties, competing for seats in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.

However, reports of late openings and equipment malfunctions at hundreds of polling stations across the country surfaced on social media, raising concerns about the election’s outcome.

Voters expressed anger and disappointment after waiting in long lines due to the disorganisation at the polling booths.

An ‘X’ user Adeel Azhar reported waiting to cast his vote at the polling station, only to find that the staff lacked the necessary polling equipment. He then visited the polling booth a second time, but was turned away due to delays.

Another ‘X’ user shared, “It is eight o'clock in the morning. There is no polling staff, nor has the equipment arrived. Almost 90%  of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) voters are here and the number of registered voters is also 5,000. How will these people vote by evening?”
