Hyderabad: The body samples of slain journalist Khawar Hussain, who was discovered dead in his car on Saturday, have been sent for chemical analysis following the completion of his autopsy.

According to police, Hussain’s body was shifted to a Hyderabad hospital mortuary, while his siblings are arriving from the United States to attend his funeral.

His last rites are scheduled to take place tomorrow in Sanghar.

Law enforcement officials have also obtained CCTV footage capturing the journalist’s last movements, which showed him visiting a washroom after parking his vehicle.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident, directing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a report on the circumstances surrounding Hussain’s death.

Hussain, a young Karachi-based journalist originally from Sanghar and associated with a private news channel, was found with a gunshot wound to his head in his parked vehicle on Hyderabad Road.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanghar, Abid Baloch, initially stated that preliminary findings suggested the journalist had shot himself.

However, he later clarified that there was no conclusive evidence to confirm suicide, stressing that the exact cause of death would be determined only after the post-mortem and chemical examination reports.
