Uncle of Amna Arif, the girl who was killed in a car accident along with her father on Karsaz road in Karachi, said that the victims’ family had not received any offer of financial compensation to release the accused, Natasha Danish.

Speaking to the media, the brother of the late Imran Arif stated that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA, Sharmila Farooqui, visited his brother's widow and assured her that the Sindh government would fully cooperate with them.

He mentioned that Farooqui promised them that the authorities would take all necessary steps to ensure the accused was brought to justice.

Amna's uncle said that, at the beginning of the case, “There was a sense of despair that justice might not be served. However, with the growing support from many people, the hope of seeing the accused punished has been reignited.”

When asked about any deal offered by the suspect, Imtiaz Arif responded: "No, we have not received any offer from the accused, nor has there been any meeting regarding this matter, and our family has no interest in such a deal."

He emphasised that the accused should be punished under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), so that "an example can be set for society".

The horrific accident on August 19 sparked outrage in the country after Natasha Danish Iqbal, daughter-in-law of the business tycoon family, Gul Ahmed, crashed her car into several vehicles on a nearby lane at Karsaz road in Karachi, killing a father and daughter and injuring four others.

CCTV footage of the Karsaz car accident revealed that suspect Natasha Danish struck another car and bike on the same road.

She attempted to flee the scene by overspeeding and crashed into the motorbike of the father and daughter.

A case of the incident was registered at Bahadurabad police station on the complaint of the brother of the deceased man.

The Karsaz car accident case is currently pending in court. On Wednesday, the accused woman was sent on a judicial remand for 14 days.

Natasha Iqbal's lawyer initially claimed that she was mentally unstable and that the family was unaware of when she had taken the car from home.

However, she was declared “mentally fit” by the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) Department of Psychiatry.
