Islamabad: Alveera Hamza, the widow of fallen Pakistan Navy officer Lieutenant Commander Hamza Abid, has been commissioned as an officer in the Pakistan Navy, turning personal loss into a story of resilience and service.
Alveera earned the Commandant's Gold Medal upon completing her training and has joined the Pakistan Navy's Information Technology branch.
Speaking about her journey, Alveera said her husband's martyrdom inspired her to pursue a career in the Navy.
"The sacrifice of my husband, Lieutenant Commander Hamza Abid, instilled in me the determination to join the Pakistan Navy," she said.
Reflecting on her achievement, she added, "I used to see my husband wearing this uniform. Standing here today in the same uniform is a source of immense pride for both me and my daughter."
Alveera described her time at the Pakistan Naval Academy as an unforgettable experience, saying the emotions she felt were beyond words.
She also encouraged young Pakistani women to consider careers in the armed forces.
"I want to tell every girl in Pakistan that if I can find the courage to do this while raising a daughter, then you can also serve your country by joining the armed forces," she said.
Her commissioning as a Pakistan Navy officer is being viewed as an inspiring example of courage, perseverance, and public service for women across Pakistan.
