A woman in Bahawalpur, who married a friend she met on PUBG, kidnapped her sister-in-law and allegedly fled with stolen jewelry and cash.
A shocking tale of deception and betrayal emerged in Bahawalpur, where the police registered an FIR on the complaint of security guard Khalid Mehmood, who accused his daughter-in-law of abducting his only daughter.
Maya Ali, accused of stealing jewelry and other valuables, met her husband Kashan Mehmood on Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), at the suggestion of a friend of Kashan's wife.
The duo, after befriending each other on the online game platform, began chatting on WhatsApp. After three years of online conversations, Maya expressed her intention to marry Kashan to him, revealing that her parents had planned to sell her.
Maya's revelation prompted Kashan to consider the proposal, but his mother initially rejected the marriage offer.
Kashan Ali revealed that Maya suddenly sent a message and arrived in Bahawalpur from Dera Ismail Khan, insisting on meeting his family. Despite their initial reluctance, Maya emotionally pleaded with them, even begging by holding their feet, and they finally allowed a court marriage on June 30.
On November 2nd, Maya kidnapped her sister-in-law, Maham Ali, and escaped with eight tolas of jewelry and Rs100,000 in cash. She went outside on the pretext of going for a walk.
The CCTV footage showed Maya forcibly putting her sister-in-law into a white car. According to the FIR, Maya Ali, along with her mother Tasleem Akhtar and brothers, kidnapped her sister-in-law.
The investigating officer stated that there are legal complications in this case. He said that the poolice cannot arrest the accused in any other province without permission.
DPO Bahawalpur has written a letter to the IG Punjab Police to facilitate the arrest of the accused.
