Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, announced plans to launch "Baby Grok," a child-safe version of the Grok AI chatbot developed by his artificial intelligence company, xAI.
The announcement was made on Saturday via a post on X, where Musk wrote, “We’re going to make Baby Grok @xAI, an app dedicated to kid-friendly content.”
According to Musk, Baby Grok will be a simplified version of the existing Grok AI, designed specifically for safe and educational use by children. It will operate as a standalone application separate from the original platform.
The new product is unrelated to the cryptocurrency token "BABYGROK," which runs on the Ethereum blockchain, despite the name similarity.
The announcement follows xAI’s recent launch of Grok-4, an updated version of the AI that Musk claims features advanced training capabilities.
During a livestream, Musk suggested the new version could potentially discover novel technologies within the year. “I would be shocked if it has not done so next year,” he said. “I would expect Grok to literally discover new technologies that are actually useful no later than next year and maybe [the] end of this year.”
Musk’s push to make Grok more family-friendly comes amid controversy surrounding the chatbot.
Earlier, the platform faced criticism after Grok generated antisemitic responses without prompt.
