Meta AI surpasses 1 billion users

The number of users utilizing Meta’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant has surpassed one billion, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Speaking to Meta shareholders, Zuckerberg revealed that the AI tool is now being used by over a billion people every month across the company’s apps.

He noted that Meta's focus this year is to make Meta AI the most advanced assistant in areas like entertainment, audio chats, and more.

This milestone follows the April launch of a dedicated Meta AI app, which significantly boosted user engagement.

Zuckerberg added that Meta AI will continue to improve over time and that a paid subscription model might be introduced in the future.

It remains unclear how deeply users are engaging with Meta AI—whether they use it for practical tasks or just casually interact with it while using Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp.

However, according to Susan Li, Meta’s Chief Financial Officer, WhatsApp currently shows the highest usage rate of Meta AI among all platforms.

For comparison, Google recently announced that its AI-powered Search Overview tool has now crossed 1.5 billion users.
