YouTube has rolled out a new feature aimed at making the video-watching experience more engaging for users. The video-sharing platform has introduced an animated “Like” button, which displays short animations when clicked.
For now, the feature is limited to select videos. According to YouTube, there are currently 20 different animations available, each tailored to the type of content being viewed.
For instance, users watching automotive or racing videos will see a spinning tire emitting smoke, while educational videos will display a glowing light bulb animation. Similarly, pet-related videos featuring cats or dogs will also have their own unique animations.
The feature was first announced in mid-October 2025 as part of a broader update to YouTube’s user interface. The gradual rollout of the animated like button has now begun, although YouTube clarified that the feature is not yet available for children’s content.
