The multi-billionaire tech CEO, Elon Musk, has predicted that artificial intelligence is likely to take over human jobs due to the technology's new and rapid advancements.
"Probably none of us will have a job,” he said during a discussion on AI at VivaTech 2024 in Paris.
On several occasions, Musk has expressed his deep concerns that AI will render many humans jobless by automating tasks with ever-increasing efficiency.
He stated that the “Culture Book Series” offers the accurate portrayal of a utopian future with advanced AI.
The Tesla owner also shared his vision of putting humans on Mars in the next eight or ten years, while stating that his “biggest hope is Mars" and “biggest fear is AI.“
He furthered on, “If you want to do a job that's kinda like a hobby, you can do a job. But otherwise, AI and the robots will provide any goods and services that you want.”
Elon Musk argued that a "universal high income" would be essential if AI replaces humans in the workplace.
The concept of Universal High Income (UHI) claims that AI will bring down the cost of labour, allowing everyone to afford basic necessities.
"There would be no shortage of goods or services," he said.
Contrary to the widespread belief that AI will rapidly replace human workers, experts at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab have asserted that the integration of AI into workplaces is not happening at a faster pace than anticipated.
Researchers have maintained that AI is unlikely to replace professions requiring high levels of emotional intelligence, such as mental health professionals, teachers, and creative workers.
During the discussion, Musk urged parents to limit their children's social media screen time to safeguard them from the influence of "dopamine-maximising AI."
