WhatsApp rolls out upgraded Apple Watch app with new features

WhatsApp has introduced a major update for Apple Watch users, offering several new features that make it easier to stay connected without using an iPhone.

The company announced that the all-new WhatsApp app for Apple Watch now allows users to read and reply to full messages directly from their wrist. For the first time, users can also record and send voice messages, view clear images and stickers, and react to messages using emojis.

Another notable addition is the ability to receive WhatsApp call notifications, enabling users to see who is calling without checking their phones. The update also expands access to chat history, allowing users to read more of their previous messages within the app.

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, said the new version aims to improve convenience and accessibility for users who prefer managing conversations on the go. The company emphasised that all personal messages and calls will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption.

The updated WhatsApp app is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 or later, running watchOS 10 or above. The platform said further improvements for Apple Watch users are in development.
