A bike rider of online food-delivery service, Foodpanda, was shot dead for resisting robbery in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi, it emerged on Friday.
The incident happened when 38-year-old Syed Ali Zubair was on his way to deliver food to the customer, according to police.
Police said two armed robbers riding a motorbike intercepted the victim at Jauhar Mor Bridge and tried to loot his mobile and other valuables.
Upon showing some resistance, the dacoits opened fire at the victim, which claimed the life of Zubair on the spot.
The mobile footage of the incident also went viral on social media, in which the suspects could be seen fleeing from the scene after committing the heinous crime.
Earlier in February, a Foodpanda rider, named Waqas Hanif, was killed by the muggers in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 4 area of the metropolis.
The rampant street crimes have instilled fear and a sense of insecurity among the citizens as ruthless robbers have been freely roaming the city, looting people and killing them over the slightest hint of resistance with impunity.
Residents of Karachi are losing confidence in the police, who they feel have failed to control the rising incidents of street crime.
