CM Maryam says family reached compromise in Bhati Gate manhole case

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday said that the family of the woman, who died in an open manhole near Bhati Gate in Lahore, along with her minor daughter, has reached a comprise with the accused.
Taking to X, she shared a message sent to her about the update in the case.
“Respected Madam, The complainant of the case in Bhati gate manhole incident has effected compromise with the accused. Husband of the deceased (Ghulam Murtaza) has taken 85 lacs, and father (Sajid) has taken 25 lacs. The court has granted them [the accused] bail," read the message.
Reacting to the compromise, she wrote: "I rest my case."
Sadia (24) and her 10-month-old daughter Rida Fatima had fallen into an open manhole near Bhati Gate, Lahore. Rescue teams recovered Saadia’s body after six hours. The child’s body was found 17 hours later from a sewer line several kilometres away.

Earlier, Sajid Hussain, the father of the deceased woman, and her husband Murtaza, told journalists that no compensation amount or cheque had been received so far.
To a querry about a compromise, Sajid said that they were still in shock.
