Defence assault case suspect Salman Farooqi arrested in Karachi

Sindh Police have arrested Salman Farooqi, the main accused in the Defence assault case, after a video showing him violently attacking a motorcyclist went viral on social media, sparking nationwide outrage.
The incident took place in Defence Phase 6, near Ittehad Commercial, following a minor collision between Farooqi’s vehicle and a motorbike.
In the footage, Farooqi can be seen physically assaulting the biker and forcing him into his car, while the victim and his sister pleaded repeatedly for mercy. Despite their apologies, Farooqi continued to beat and intimidate the motorcyclist.
The prime suspect is the owner of the production house, Bionic Films.
The Gizri Police Station registered a case against Farooqi under sections related to violence, torture, and criminal intimidation, based on the complaint of eyewitness Shahid Muhammad Saleem.
Karachi Defence assault: Police arrest driver and guard of accused man
Police earlier detained Farooqi’s driver and security guard, and his vehicle was seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
The police sources confirmed that Salman Farooqi has been arrested and will be presented before the court.
Earlier, DIG South Asad Raza stated that no formal complaint has been filed with the police so far, and efforts are underway to contact the victim’s family.
He further added that the police are taking the matter very seriously, and an FIR will be registered against the suspect and his accomplices.
