The DNA report of the young girl, who was strangled to death by her brother, has concluded that there is no evidence of sexual assault, despite the accused admitting to the crime while speaking to a journalist during his court appearance.

The disturbing video showing a man strangling his sister, while his father looked on, sparked outrage on social media and led to the arrest of the girl's family members, including her father, younger brother, the elder brother who recorded the video, and his wife.

Maria’s body was exhumed for post-mortem, and DNA samples were collected for medical analysis.

However, the recent medical report ruled out rape, contradicting the initial claims made by the police, who had previously stated that the 22-year-old was four months pregnant and had been raped by the suspects, who are imprisoned at the district jail, under a 14-day judicial remand ordered by a local magistrate.

The forensic analysis of the video, recorded by Shahbaz and his wife, has confirmed its authenticity.

Shahbaz, who filed a complaint with the local police, alleged that Maria had confided in his wife about being four months pregnant, saying she was raped by the accused.

He further stated that the culprits intimidated and threatened to harm his children if he disclosed the incident.

District Police Officer Toba Tek Singh, Ibadan Nassar, has declared the case an honour killing based on the evidence.

The police have concluded their investigation, and a charge sheet will soon be presented to the court, he said.
