Dubai-returned man shot dead by street criminals

A Dubai-returned man was shot dead by street criminals in broad daylight in Peshawar’s Faqirabad Afghan Colony.

Police reported that 20-year-old Abubakar was in his neighbourhood when two unidentified men on a motorcycle snatched mobile phones from two youths.

Abubakar attempted to pursue the suspects, who then opened fire, hitting him in the abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities conducted a site inspection, recorded statements from the victim’s friends, and retrieved CCTV footage from the area.

A case has been registered, and special teams have been formed to apprehend the suspects.

Local residents expressed deep concern, noting that the Ababeel Force, established to prevent street crime, is often absent from many areas, contributing to an increase in such incidents.

Police said CCTV footage is being used to identify the culprits, and arrests are expected soon.
