HYDERABAD: With Eidul Azha approaching, delays in establishing official cattle markets in Hyderabad have led traders to set up roadside livestock bazaars across the city, causing traffic congestion and sanitation concerns.

Several areas, including Latifabad, Qasimabad, Pakka Qila Chowk, Gado Chowk and Phuleli, have turned into temporary animal sale points, where traders continue selling sacrificial animals directly on streets and intersections.

The growing presence of animals, feed waste and manure has worsened cleanliness conditions, while commuters face difficulties due to heavy traffic and roadside crowds.

Sources said the contract for the official cattle market at Hatri Bypass has yet to be awarded, while other markets under local authorities also remain delayed.

In the absence of regulated facilities, traders continue operating on roadsides as police reportedly remain unable to take effective action.
