In a tragic incident, a financially distressed man reportedly committed suicide by stepping in front of a moving train in Dijkot after receiving an inflated electricity bill.

The deceased, identified as Fida Hussain, was under extreme stress due to his financial situation. According to eyewitnesses, he stepped in front of a train and ended his life.

The local residents reported that the elderly man was distressed after receiving an exorbitant power bill of Rs20,000, fearing he would be unable to pay it.

Passersby found Fida Hussain's lifeless body lying on the tracks and informed railway officials and Millat Town police.

Upon arriving, police stated that no evidence was found on the scene to confirm the cause of the suicide.

This recent suicide incident adds to a growing number of similar cases and highlights the increasing financial strain faced by many in the country, where rising energy costs have exacerbated existing economic difficulties.

Previously, an elderly woman from Gujranwala who saved money for her surgery committed suicide after receiving a bill for Rs10,000.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently announced a two-month discount of Rs 14 per unit for domestic consumers in Punjab and Islamabad.
