In a disturbing incident, a newlywed couple from Chak Bhaiwala village in Faisalabad died by suicide after reportedly becoming distraught over the delay of their honeymoon plans due to financial constraints.
The deceased, identified as Sajid and Fauzia Bibi, had tied the knot two months ago and had hoped to travel to Naran Kaghan for their honeymoon.
Sajid, a power loom factory worker, had requested his brother, Muhammad Fahad, to arrange the money for the trip.
According to reports, Fahad informed Sajid that he would try but needed some time to arrange the money. This response reportedly upset Sajid, who then threatened to take his own life along with his wife.
The couple was also reportedly living separately due to family pressure.
On Tuesday morning, the couple went to the Bhaiwala railway crossing near Chairman Stop.
Before the incident, Sajid called his brother and informed him of their decision.
Shortly after ending the call, Sajid and Fauzia laid down on the railway tracks and were fatally struck by the Lahore-bound Badr Express.
Both were killed on the spot, with their bodies severely mutilated. Police arrived at the scene and handed over the remains to the family after completing initial formalities
