Young man shot accidentally by Karachi restaurant guard

A security guard at a popular food chain in Karachi’s Water Pump area accidentally discharged his gun, hitting a young man, prompting passersby to storm the restaurant.

CCTV footage of the incident showed an elderly man confronting the guard, after which people tried to de-escalate the situation. 

The guard then aimed his weapon at the elderly man. As onlookers intervened and discouraged him, he tried to put his weapon away, at which point a shot was accidentally discharged, hitting a boy.

As the victim lay injured, bystanders rushed to assist him, while the guard remained stationed outside the premises.

Moments later, several people attempted to apprehend the guard, but he went inside the restaurant.

Social media users expressed outrage, stating that the restaurant’s management should have intervened immediately and ensured the injured boy received help.

One user commented on the irresponsible use of weapons by security guards, while others stated that the guard committed a mistake and blamed branch management for not intervening in the matter promptly.
