A Sindh Police bodybuilder has brought international recognition to Pakistan after winning his first international bodybuilding title, defeating strong competition that included Indian athletes in the championship's final round.
Describing the victory as one of the proudest moments of his life in an exclusive interview with Dialogue Pakistan, the athlete said the achievement was particularly meaningful because it was his first appearance at an international event.
He added that defeating Indian competitors made the victory even more special for supporters back home, who celebrated the achievement with great enthusiasm.
The champion's bodybuilding journey began at Azam Gold Gym in Karachi's Sher Shah area, where he developed a passion for the sport after being inspired by his elder brother. Initially, his family opposed his decision, considering bodybuilding a waste of time due to its demanding training schedule and strict dietary requirements. However, their attitude changed after witnessing his success in competitions.
Starting at the local level, he competed in district championships before representing himself at the Junior Pakistan Championship. It was during that event in Faisalabad that he noticed participants from Punjab Police and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, but no representation from Sindh Police.
That experience motivated him to join Sindh Police with the goal of representing the department at national and international competitions. After being recruited, he began competing under the Sindh Police banner and steadily built an impressive record.
Earlier this year, he claimed the Mr. Karachi title, a victory that boosted his confidence ahead of the Mr. Universe competition. Believing he was in peak physical condition, he intensified his preparation for his international debut.
The championship's decisive round featured two Indian athletes and one Pakistani competitor. Despite the pressure of competing internationally for the first time, he remained confident in his preparation and secured the title.
"I couldn't sleep the entire first night after winning," he recalled, describing the emotions of becoming an international champion as unforgettable.
Looking ahead, the athlete aims to compete at even higher international events and hopes to continue winning medals for Pakistan. However, he emphasized that financial support remains a major challenge.
He appealed to the government and relevant institutions to provide sponsorship, saying that access to funding would enable him to represent Pakistan more frequently on the global stage.
"If I receive sponsorship, I will do my best to bring more gold medals for Pakistan," he said.
Addressing the country's youth, the champion encouraged young people to participate in sports, regardless of the discipline they choose. He said regular physical activity not only improves fitness but also helps young people stay away from drugs and other harmful habits.
He urged the younger generation to dedicate at least 20 to 60 minutes each day to sports, describing an active lifestyle as essential for building a healthier and stronger Pakistan.
