Three people were killed after a speeding truck ran over a motorcycle on Superhighway near Jamali Pull in Karachi on Sunday.

According to the police, the accident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Site Superhighway Industrial Area police station. The driver lost control of the vehicle after its brakes allegedly failed while negotiating a U-turn, causing it to run over a motorcycle.

The three injured were rushed by ambulance to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Civil Hospital Karachi, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The police identified the deceased as Habib Iqbal, 30, Waqar Saleem, 50, and Adeel Ghulam Mustafa, 28.

According to the police, Waqar and Habib were uncle and nephew. They were residents of Ahsanabad and involved in the furniture business. Habib was married, while Waqar is survived by two daughters and a son.

Investigators said the victims were on their way to work when the accident occurred.

The police said the truck's brakes apparently failed while taking a U-turn near Jamali Bridge, causing the vehicle to mount the motorcycle.

Police took the truck into custody immediately after the accident and arrested the driver, identified as Shehbaz.
